v0.6.2 Patch Notes

v0.6.2 release

Following some feedback from playtesters, I've pushed out a small (kind of) update. This update is mainly about refining the core gameplay loop to make combat more challenging and engaging. Previously in the original release, you could beat every encounter by abusing stunlock and never allowing the enemy to move. Now you can't do that, because there is no stunlock! Have fun dealing with a rabid pack of wolves.

Patch notes:
- Can no longer hold down buttons to keep executing actions.
You have to press the button once to register an input now. This is supposed to fix "jittery" controls where the player would do an action twice accidentally bnecause the player held down the button too long.
- Removed stunlock on most enemies. For enemies that keep stunlock (wolves), they have a revenge counter that ticks up the longer they're in stun. Once it reaches a threshold, they do an attack.
Makes the game harder and more fun(?). I personally find that now it's basically mandatory to try to keep your distance and only try to deal damage with Dash, but even that carries risks because you can still get hit while dashing. I might add invincibility to dash in the future to compensate.
- Added slight hitstun
Slightly different from frame freeze. Most attacks deal 0.1 seconds of hitstun where the affected actor can't move. This was added in order to compensate for no stunlock.
- Nerfed stomp damage
RIP stomp spam. For now it still might be the safest way to attack enemies because none of them can attack above them, but it might honestly just be faster to wait the 6 seconds to use dash twice. In the future, I'm also looking to remove up and down collisions from actors too, so enjoy stomp spam while it still works I guess.
- Lower framerate(?)
Maybe my computer is just dying idk
